Alright, I'm sold. If you cast and sell these I'll buy some later on (but likely not soon at all) and probably use them as an Infernal Guard unit due to the uncurled beards, or maybe as a Dawi Zharr cult of Chaos Undivided believers. But why do he mix green and brown stuff? To make the master models withstand the mouldmaking process?

I'll probably buy a few grenadiers and that standard bearer in the same wave, if they'll be cast and sold as well.

Reminds me of White Knight's old marauder's dwarfs project.
I like them a lot! I may buy some if you cast 'em.

They do?

Must be a coincidence, and have nothing to do with using the same sculptor Wink

Or that I'm a big fan of WKs project, and haven't painted much else since their first release Tongue

No just kidding, cause this is all due to WK and Johns great work.

The obvious thing that was missed is that Clam is now 40... I'm thinking that his feet are now fully stone and he needs a palaquin to move about.

What - he is still such a young puppy?

Cheers!

But with my additional 7 years I want to tell you:
No, you - and me, too - are definitely not too old for this.

And we are nearing a time with many advantages -
1 the kids are big enough to play with us
2 we have got enough money so that we do not have to think thrice before buying something
3 the eyesight gets worse so that we do not see the tiny errors we make while painting
4 soon knees and hips will start to creak so that we do not have to do sports anymore and can sit down with a beer and our minis

Nice minis you have got there, makes me envious even though I still have a lot to buy and paint to add to my collection.

Exactly! This hobby is good for the venerable age, and the craftsmanlike aspects of it is sure to still be enjoyable after the middle-age crisis.

Our best Wargaming armies might even be inherited by our sons and daughters when the time comes at last. Think of your descendants pointing to a horde of splendid miniatures of alien origin preferably handled carefully and put in safe display most of the time, telling their friends that their great-granddad painted this army. "It's even older than dad!" they might say. Wink

But to take a somewhat shorter look on things, this hobby is something that may last for a lifetime, preferably in good friends' company and as a means of spending time together with the younger generation. Not that I'm that old now, but I will be in twenty years' time.

@DAGabriel

Thanks! Never looked at it that way, but you are so right Big Grin

And some news:

-------------------------------------------------------------------
Copied from todays blog update at: http://claminiatures.blogspot.com
-------------------------------------------------------------------

Okay, so lets get on with it, and let me show you what this is really about Happy

Early May all greens (including my own humble tries at sculpting) went off for mastering in the UK. And after about 4 weeks these two bags was delivered at my address, here in Denmark.

Holding 25 top quality spins from each of the two moulds - nearly 4 kg of awesome white metal master casts.

But, I guess you are more interested seeing what's actually inside those two bags, right?

Bag I

Bag II

10 Core Warrior heads

5 heroic heads

8 hand weapons

5 Shields

Johann, Ewal Dvergr Character by John Pickford

Backside view

Ewal Dvergar Grenadiers, sculpted by me

Very nice. They look so much... cooler in white metal than as greens. You must be really happy.
On a side note I now see how you got your profile name.

I am really liking this thread. I like the new sculpts, I'm really liking these are for Clam, a really nice guy, and a real asset to this site (CDO). I especially like that these are for his 40th birthday. Overall one really nice thread.

Well done Clam, nice minis. Those bags you received look like little nuggets of pure awesomeness. I will be following this thread, and Clam's blog with much interest.

RE: Clam's Garage II - Master Castingsclam 06-10-2012

Thanks all - and yes this was the best birthday present ever. Had to wait for it, but it was certainly worth the wait. And best part will be, that its a present that can be "shared" - as most of them will go into some kind of "production". It is a personal venture for me, but see no reason for not sharing (if there is an interest).

And have just added these to the new blog:

4 assembled core warriors

Side-by-side
Rankable and also room for shields (on most) Wink

Johann, with and without the beard

And I also did this scale-shot to show them next to "the real thing":
