Thank you very much! I am not really familiar with these rules or lore but I guess I should learn about it sometime. ) Big Grin

And some more desert dawi for my collection:

Desert Dwarf Immortals

Desert Dwarf Immportals unlike Blacksouls are professional warriors. In order to get this honorary title a dwarf should either earn it by feats of great courage or bravery on the battlefield, or earn it by long-time service in the army. As a result most Immortals regiments are comprised of older dwarfs. And an older dwarf is usually a fatter and even slower dwarf. However they are usually richer than their younger kin, so can afford better weaponry and armour.

Any comments, please? ) Takes Hat off

Their ostentation is clear for all to see. Great choice to include luxurious blue. It must mark them out well as elite in the army as a whole!

RE: The Penguin's Desert DwarfsThe_Penguin 06-13-2018

Thank you, guys! Takes Hat off

Well, it is time for another visit to Golden Sands Desert.....

Desert Dwarfs Chariots of Fire

Many aspects of Desert Dwarfs' life is unclear. One of the mysteries is why they call their chariots "Chariots of Fire". They have no (visible, at least) fiery enchantments on them, or any real fire that dwarf charioteers use during combat. Most likely the name was given because of the polished bronze sides of the chariots that glitter in the sun like raging fire. Thundering blindingly glittering monstrosity that goes your way does indeed terrify foes of desert dawi.

Actually yes, when I am painting, I do listen to thematic music. Something like  this.

Thanks a lot! Takes Hat off Actually I painted seven. One will most likely be shown later, because it is reserved for a hero character! Big Grin

I greatly appreciate your kind words, gentlemen. That inspires me to keep working on the army! Thank you again! You are awesome! Cheers!

RE: The Penguin's Desert DwarfsThe_Penguin 06-16-2018

And another small update! Cheers!

Desert Dwarfs Berserks
Ophidian scholars speculate as to who exactly these half-naked brutes are. Are they bound by some grand oaths? Are they cursed by unknown magics? Do they drink some kind of potion which makes them so aggressive? In reality these are the dwarfs who lost their bighats. A proper desert dwarf will never part with one, unless it goes off with the head of the owner. Those who had their hat stolen or destroyed by some other means should earn it back at all costs. The only way to do it is to take enough skulls of enemies that will make the full height of the said hat if put one atop another (which is usually 2-3 skulls). After they earn their hat back some return to everyday life or join ranks of Blacksouls or Immortals. Some, however, "lose" their hats too often and keep fighting among the hatless just for the fun of it.

Don't lose your hats, fellow dawi! Takes Hat off

Thank you very much! Takes Hat off I can't say I am totally satisfied with the result (I never am), but I have always wanted a proper desert themed army. Now I am toying with the idea of desert orc and human armies as well. But not before I finish those awesome guys! Stay tuned for upcoming terrain! Big Grin

How have the Berzerkers faired for you on the battlefield? I have so many points tied up in my Katsuchans and Heavy Mortars (and in unlocks for them) that I haven't been able to squeeze them in.

Quite poorly, I am afraid! Unsure
Both they and their non-abyssal brethren are too expensive for chaff, can't really take a beating, if charged. Not to mention a proper volley from shooters or artillery. And again too expensive to use as distraction.

I have seen only one game where they were more or less useful, when they were hiding behind forest and other terrain pieces and managed to charge and mutilate a regiment of Sharpsticks (?) in one turn. Was it worth it? Hardly. Happy

Aww I'm sorry to hear that, I've been planning a second Chaos Dwarf army  (specifically to include units I'm not using in my current Tournament list like the Berzerkers) - I have a theory that a troop of them might make for a good "second wave" infantry to deploy behind a Regiment of infantry (maybe Blacksouls, Slave Orcs, or possibly even Decimators) to do clean up and to then to hop on objectives (that +1 speed can go a long-long way in the last round on the game trying to cross the table!). I saw a local player do very well with a Regiment of them once before, and he said they performed way over expectations for him every game - but neither of us where really able to explain what it was about them on paper that worked (he conceded he thought maybe he just got good rolls with them).

Very interesting concept, actually! I really like the idea of putting them behind Decimators. Cheers! perhaps I should try that some time!

That is perhaps my problem with them. Units like that, indeed, rely too much on good rolls, if you ask me. However, I really do not have enough experience with them to say for sure. Happy
