[edit] Magazine

White Dwarf is a monthly magazine produced by Games Workshop that contains information on their products as well as hobby articles, rules clarifications, occasional new army lists and units as well as battle reports. White Dwarf remains the only source of Chaos Dwarf rules as it was from articles from this publication that White Dwarf Presents: Chaos Dwarfs was complied and the original Ravening Hordes booklet was given away with an issue of the magazine.

[edit] Character

Grombrindal, the White Dwarf, is a special character for the Dwarf army, whose rules are published only in issues of White Dwarf magazine, usually once for each edition of Warhammer. It is never stated who exactly the White Dwarf is, but it is implied that he is the spirit of Snorri Whitebeard, the last king of the Dwarfs to receive respect from an elf.

In a battle report in White Dwarf 201 (from a special scenario detailed in White Dwarf 200), the first version of Grombrindal was used in a Dwarf army against a force of Chaos Dwarfs led by his opposite number, The Black Dwarf. The Chaos Dwarfs emerged victorious, but the White Dwarf himself was succesful in his mission to destroy his arch-nemesis.
